Care for the environment seen by children: 'It’s Your World? Clean! "in the end of the third edition

Bucharest, June 8, 2011. In the week that globally celebrates environment, we can ask a question and seek an answer? "It’s Your World? Clean! "- YWC, the so called national education project initiated by PRAIS Foundation and implemented in partnership with District 1 Municipality Bucharest and Romprest. Having reached its third edition, the program involved at sector level over 4,200 students in IVgrade of 38 schools and over 8,000 family members.
"It’s Your World? Clean! "- LTC is the educational component of our national planting movement 'Millions of People, Millions of Trees", officially recognized by UNEP, which has as main objective the development of a responsible civic behavior of the younger generation, the environment and the planet's resources, the selective collection of recyclable waste, promoting our modern methodologies of their extracurricular education, "said Silvia Bucur, President PRAIS Foundation.

Now in its third edition, the program involved at sector level over 4,200 fourth grade students from 38 schools and over 8,000 family members.

"- YWC is the educational component of our national planting movement 'Millions of People, Millions of Trees", officially recognized by UNEP, which has as main objective the development of a responsible civic behavior of the younger generation towards the environment and the planet’s resources; it sustains the selective collection of recyclable waste, promoting our modern methodologies of extracurricular education", said Silvia Bucur, President of PRAIS Foundation.

In the YWC project, students received a free extracurricular educational book and they got access along with their parents, relatives and friends to the online information platform: www.lumeatacurata.ro. In the 3 school competitions, students selectively collected recycled waste, 786 cubic meters of paper and 239 cubic meters of plastic as a result of their current consumption. The results were recorded periodically on site, generating automatically the top of the most active schools. Children have created and exhibit over 1,000 decorative objects of recycled materials and they entered the site 180 works written on environmental issues and received monthly prizes. Approximately 2,500 students attended the 43 open lessons on environmental issues.

"It is a moment of joy for all of us involved in this campaign to end the second year of environmental education 'It’s Your World? Clean", implemented in all elementary schools in District 1, Bucharest. I noticed a much stronger involvement of children and teachers throughout the campaign period, surprising us the results that are far beyond our expectations", said Adriana Calcan, Communication and Marketing Manager of Romprest.
Romprest, the waste management company, provided the selective collection of the schools and its specialists participated in open classes. The 38 schools in District 1, Bucharest, were provided with selective collection bins for paper and plastic.

Romprest sustine Let's Do It Romania, si in 2011!

Let's Do It Romania!, campanie de curatenie generala la nivelul tarii, aflata la cea de-a doua editie in Romania, se doreste un succes la nivel national si in 2011. Comunitatea Let's Do It, World! a pornit de la iniţiativa Estoniei, ţara care a lansat in 2008 conceptul de curăţenie în toată ţara, într-o singură zi. După Estonia şi alte ţări au preluat ideea, iar acţiunea s-a transformat intr-o adevărată mişcare socială. Peste 1 350 000 participanţi au luat parte la proiect în întreaga lume până în prezent: • Estonia (2008): 50.000 de voluntari – ţara de origine • Letonia: 50 000 (2008), 110 000 (2009), 150 000 (2010) • Lituania: 6000 (2008) 100 000 (2009) 200 000 (2010) • Portugalia (2010): 110 000 de voluntari • Slovenia (2010): 275 000 de voluntari • România (2010): 200 000 de voluntari • New Delhi, India (2010): 50 000 de voluntari • Kerala, India (2010 [...]
