Over twenty ways to claim your city in PARK (ing) Day
On September 16 Radio France InternationaleRomania transforms the parking spaces into parks. Over twenty projects have been selected to participate in the second edition of PARK (ing) Day Bucharest. There are environmental associations, animal welfare NGOs, cyclists, urban activists, artists and architects who propose the Bucharest residents learning to love their city.
In parking spaces of Unirea Square (Unirea Shopping Center, Calarasi wing) and Carrefour Baneasa, between 10.00 and 18.00, there will be activities for all tastes.
Those from Just a Magazine will exchange magazines, there will be game sessions, and they will challenge everyone to tell about their relationship with Bucharest. Bucharest memories may be shared at "Confession Booth" of those from Make a Point. The Bucharest residents will have new memories, this time on the grass, with the photographer Florin Ghioca. Visitors can make new friends, by adopting a dog from GROUP INITIATIVE FOR ANIMALS Association.
The discontented ones will be at "Picnic with your neighbors" with the Resource Center for Public Participation and they will find out what some people are doing in order to save the city. Then they will go on to the Ecopolis stand to make a list of things that seized their city and their welfare. They will learn from Viitor Plus (Future Plus) about paper recycling program, Recicleta, and where is the nearest collection center. “We plant good deeds in Romania” will tell them how to be involved in a different Romania. The participants will be able to selectively recycle at Environ stands (WEEE collection) and Romprest stands (waste collection).
Those interested in sports will play ping pong with those from the editorial Kamikaze and thereafter they can relax in the areas designed by Camelia Şirli or in Green Lounge sitting on objects made of recycled materials, admiring the vivid statues of Mask Theatre. Then you can read a good book borrowed from BiblioBuzz stand. They will take part in the practical teachings of those from Incubator 107: they will enjoy drinking natural juices, learning to make paper jewelry or have a relaxing massage.
Not long before launching their first kite in the sky of Bucharest thanks to “I want in the sky”. In the evening, after a picnic tea, they will dance with STEYsha Irish dance troupe. Cyclists will take advantage of a corner dedicated to them, where they can test their riding skills on the spot and listen to the stories of bicycle couriers from the Tribe. Their bikes will benefit from a beauty and repair salon via Biciclop.
The parking map, the interviews with the participants and details of their projects are available on parkingday.rfi.ro.
